I am a car collector, 19 so far and still searching. Now there’s a small problem. I am moving from Toronto to LA and of course I need movers to help with my collection. It’s not quite like moving a stamp collection! The movers I finally hire will have to be experts in dealing with cars.
Take the Rolls, for instance. It’s valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars. It’s a 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II in flawless condition. Are there movers out there who are prepared to wear white cotton gloves when they touch this beauty? And the 1935 Lagonda 3½-Litre Rapide Tourer with the aluminum body? Any movers with experience in moving aluminum?
I suppose I could take year or two and drive the cars down to LA, but I cannot afford the time. That’s what movers are for and I’m happy to let them do the job just as long as they have the experience. Insurance doesn’t help in this case. It will be prohibitively expensive and none of these cars can be replaced anyway.
So the movers will have to use special trucks or containers to move my cars and they will just have to make as many trips as it takes.
